Company Section - Awards Scheme


  • The Company Section Programme(Discover Programme) will run for four years
  • It will be blocked as two 2 year programmes with the introduction of the Discovery Badge at the end of the second year.
  • The Presidents badge will be awarded at the end of year four
  • There will be a new award (Compass Badge) in the initial stages of the Discover programme.

    Three Badges to be gained each year

  • Recreation (10 topics)
  • Community (7 topics)
  • Skills (7 topics)
  • Completing a minimum of 24 topics each year. Two Major awards can be gained during four years in Company Section.

    Discovery Award

    Awarded during Year 2, boys would:

  • take part in a residential experience (camp, holiday, sleepover, midnight hike or event).
  • have an active role in a Company or Battalion event, or church service.
  • complete at least 30 topics from the Discover programme having gained three banges in the last twelve months.
  • to have good attendance for one session.
  • President’s Badge

    Awarded during year 4 a boy would:

  • Complete a Christian faith development course
  • Have good attendance for 1 year.
  • Be recommended by the Company Captain
  • Participate in a non-residential teamwork skills experience run by a Battalion, District or Region
  • AND Either – Route A:

  • Complete 10 hours practical service for the Brigade or Church
  • Completed at least 30 topics from the Company Section programme in the last two years
  • Taken part in an activity based residential event within the BB

  • Or – Route B:

  • Gained Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award


  • Some programme topics will go into greater depth with more than three sessions of activity, this will include topics such as First Aid, Camping and other areas.
